Spoken Word – First Morning (The Girl With The Extra Beer Part 2) – what would you do in that awkward moment the morning after the night before?
First Morning (The Girl With The Extra Beer Part 2)
I don’t remember waking.
I remember my nose pressed against the back of your neck.
I remember your skin felt so soft.
I remember a promise we made
When we met,
Before we slept.
I drew a deep breath
Warm against your skin and
In that moment I had a glimpse of a Sunday morning,
A Sunday morning that could be,
A Sunday morning that would be.
I smiled silently
You asked me
With my nose pressed to the back of your neck
And your skin felt so soft
And my arm wrapped
Around your waist
With your skin
I don’t know
If you know
What I was thinking,
So I blurted out
How I imagined us fighting
Over the Guardian and the Times
Eating croissants, drinking tea.
On a Sunday morning
Like this one
But that wasn’t what I was thinking
With my nose pressed against the back of your neck
With your skin so soft
My lips brushing the top of your back
My arms holding you tight.
That wasn’t what I was thinking.
